Scott's Military Service

Captain Scott Delius currently serves as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the Georgia Army National Guard. In the fall of 2006, he volunteered to deploy with the 41st Brigade Combat Team to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Captain Delius was assigned as the Command Judge Advocate to the U.S. commander at Camp Alamo in Kabul. His primary duty was to serve as an advisor to the top Afghan National Army legal officer at the Kabul Military Training Center (KMTC). As an advisor to the Afghan Army, Captain Delius spearheaded the establishment of the first military court at KMTC and helped to develop the Afghan military justice system.

Captain Delius also served as mission and convoy commander on several humanitarian assistance missions, where he and other soldiers obtained, organized and delivered food and clothing to needy Afghan civilians.

In recognition of his service, Captain Delius has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (w/M Device), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the NATO Medal. He has also qualified for the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Pistol Marksman Badge.
